BYE BYE 2010........

Sophie and Rachel in their Christmas Style!
Sophie and Rachel Here - It's hard to believe that it's the end of 2010. Tomorrow is a whole new beginning for all of us. 2010 had lots of good moments. It had lots of worrying moments too. But when we look back, it was a very good year. We are so lucky to be healthy and well, have a really good Mom and Dad and brother and a great family and friends too.

To everyone who was kind to us, we say 'thank you'. To anyone who has had a bad year we say 'good luck next year'.

We went searching for some music to share with you. Mom suggested this one......

This will be our year - Beautiful South

Sophie and I prefer this one......

DJ Earworm Mashup 2010.

So, whatever your taste in music, wherever you are this evening, we wish you and everyone you hold dear a
have fun, be safe, feel special. Love from Rachel, Sophie and Liz xxxOxxx

Liz here - As Christmas is approaching, I'm sure you have begun your shopping. One thing is for sure, there is lots of good value in the shops this year. There are sale rails in lots of the shops and I've been able to pick up a few lovely bits and pieces for the girls at very good prices.

We took a look through their clothes and could quickly make a list of which items would make a really workable wardrobe for each of them.

Rachel and I had a day at Expose together and we saw lots of lovely clothes and beauty products. My friend Caroline had a lovely stall with fab clothes for teens and Rachel fell in love with some of the clothes. This photo taken by Rachel shows very well what is 'in' this season. If you have a bit of bling (we're talking diamante) and a bit of fur, then you will be right in fashion! With the shorter length skirts, dresses and shorts, I think it is nice to have a short length coat in your wardrobe this year. We picked up a nice one in Awear for just €40. Awear have some lovely blingy rings too. The scarves in Penneys are a steal. Best shoe value we found in New Look, whether casual shoes or dressy heels. It is just great to have a Juicy shop in Kildare Village, because even a little 'Juicy' makes an ordinary outfit seem glamourous. Oooh, it's all sooo exciting!

We have taken a little blog break, which will continue, as between now and the end of the year, the Teen Life and Style Team are beyond busy. Rachel is up to her eyes with 3rd Year, hockey and life in general, Sophie is adjusting to 5th Year commitments and all that brings and Mom Liz is (would you believe it!) in first year at College and so busy settling in and working too We'll be in touch again before Christmas! Til then, have fun!

Sophie chilling with Bailey the cat
Rachel with Polly and Bailey too
Rachel here - When I think about life and how quickly time is many things have happened in my life since the last blog - hockey matches won and lost, great times with friends, changing over to more wintery clothes, movies, trying out a different disco, X Factor, having a boyfriend and when it doesn't work out! Life is so busy, it's great just to chill out with Polly and watch a few movies, chat on Facebook with all my friends, sit beside the fire like Sophie and just letting my mind wander. It feels like Christmas is still ages away, even though it has been snowing, but I know it will be here in a blink!

Pink-Raise Your Glass

Rachel here - was going to blog on X Factor, but found this and really like the beat....

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Liz here - my gorgeous Rachel never ceases to amaze me.... she has just confessed that she was quoting me at school today trying to bring a feelgood factor to one of her classes. I suppose I've been avoiding putting too much up on our blog - as I really want it to be for teens, by teens, but it is also a way for me to teach all the things I teach my adult clients, to all the teens who want to know how to feel good about themselves and look their best too. You see, if many of the ladies I deal with, had learned all I have to teach when they were teens, they would not have the hangups they have today.

You know that I work as a Stylist, but you can also have a look at to see the other work I do. I am particularly conscious about self esteem. Good self esteem is a wonderful gift. It is something that even the most fragile of people can work on and build over time. Every time we give ourselves even a little compliment, we are building our self esteem. Perhaps this is something you can work on yourself. If you are struggling with how you feel about your appearance, be sure to talk to someone who cares as they will often have no idea how you are feeling and can help you see your good points. If you need a little more help, you can always come to see me, in total confidence and avail of my special teen rates at the lifestyle clinic.

From now on, I will be sharing lots of teen hints and tips on this blog and just in case Rachel got my quote wrong - it is 'life is your catwalk, choose to look good and feel great every day". Let me know what you think!

Liz here - we've been getting a bit organised recently, to turn our clutter into cash. We've put together a system where we all review our belongings, pack them in fruit boxes (free from the supermarket) - these are great as they double up as display boxes when we get our stand set up and then, even though we sell everything for just a couple of euro - at the end of the day, it all adds up. There are so many good things about this....
Firstly, there's the recycling aspect, then there's the kind of crazy fun day out which starts a bit to early, there's the good feeling of having cleared out and being organised, there's the feelgood factor of sharing well cared for belongings with others, for a really good price and last but not least there's the cash €€€€€€€€. I often feel reluctant to start, but feel just great afterwards. There are car boot sales all over the place these days and for this reason, I thought there would be fewer customers. I was completely wrong. There is a big and regular clientele. people just love a bargain. I love to see some much loved clothes and belongings going to a new owner who is delighted to get them for a cheap price.

Rachel here - today, my red leather jacket I've has had for years went to a lovely little girl for just a couple of euro. Her Mom was delighted with the bargain. Our collection of Sylvanians has gone to lots of new homes and our beanies have too. I'm delighted with the space in my wardrobe now that some of my clothes have gone to new owners. The buzz of the car boot sale was great. We had lovely home baked cakes from one of the stalls. I was tempted to buy a few bits and pieces, but having just cleared out, decided not to bring anything new home for now Some people bought more than they brought to sell! Anyway, we're saving! Clearing out my toys brought back so many happy memories. I kept a few of the special ones. Some things are just too hard to part with. So get clearing girls!

Rachel here - I spotted this artist on the Ellen Show one day and read about her more recently in The Ticket - think you will like her......her name is Janelle Monae...... I think she's cool - I love her hair, I think the way she dresses is unique in some way and she has a happy vibe and gets you in a dancing mood..... let me know what you think..... if you like it you can view the official video on Youtube where the dancing is fab and shoes just great!

Rach here - The shrieks in the corridors meant that the results were out today. I waited nervously for the reactions. Some were people were overjoyed and others had disappointed faces. Exams are a challenge for so many people - I hope that anyone who did not get the grades they wished for knows that they are just great anyway, that there is more to life than exams and results and most importantly, that they can be anything that they want to be if they set a goal and work towards it. That's what my Mom says anyway - and she kind of knows these things.

Liz here - If you have done well, you are fantastic. If you have done very well and still feel disappointed - are you just too hard on yourself?. If your friends did better than you - what other things are you really good at? If for some reason you did badly - you can do well in future exams, just keep trying and notice all you have learned from the Junior Cert experience.

Rach here again - enjoy the celebrations and keep safe. Well done RK and friends - you are amazing!Just want to say, exams are a small thing when it comes to life - keep healthy, have fun and live life to the full!!!!!! Wow..... did I say that???? I get most of my philosophies from Snoopy!

Rachel here - will I ever forget my sore legs last week?? I had been jogging in the summer to avoid hitting the hockey wall in September - but guess what? it didn't work - I may be fit - but not hockey fit..... I'm delighted to be back playing a team sport, even though we were soaked to the skin last Saturday.... hockey is a big part of my life - I love the position I play and the interaction with other team members. I love the feeling of scoring that one important goal that will change the whole direction of the game and I love the sense of responsibility and the hope of getting to the later stages of the hockey junior cup.... imagine girls.... the Leinster Final... the croud cheering.... holding the trophy full of.....lemonade!!!! Wow. This could be our year. This is our year. Oh I wonder will I even get on the team.....anyways, see you tomorrow at 10.30 whatever the weather. Tough faces girls!!!

I don't know about you girls, but settling down to the homework is .... challenging.....knowing when I actually know something is .... even more challenging. I feel the weight of the Junior Cert on my shoulders this year. Any hints and tips, much appreciated. As the results come out this week (good luck to anyone who's waiting, especially you RK) I hope that you all get really good marks, so that all your hard work was worthwhile. SCREAM when you get them. Let all that stress out. Plan some great celebrations and if you do get a bit of a disappointment.... learn from it - go for it next time!! Fingers crossed. In the meantime, I'm off to do my!

Sophie here - after lots of rehearsing our show has finally taken place. I would like to say well done to all of the girls and guys involved - it really was wonderful to be part of such a great production. Everyone who came to see us has been very complimentary about the whole show, from the set to the costumes, the dancing, the singing and the acting too. It is hard to believe that the show we began working on before Summer has now taken place. The most enjoyable part for me was dancing with the group in the live show. It was so much fun.

Rachel here- Was just browsing on youtube and found this, enjoy some weekend music...

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Rachel here - thanks girls for all the feedback on CIMORELLI. When I found them a few weeks ago, I thought you might like them, and you do! It was so funny on Friday at school, to hear you all singing their song. Inspiration for a group girls?? I'm sure your version would be cool. We'll have to think of a song! So I'm sharing a little more CIMORELLI, before I get tired of them! and am on the search for some more music that I hope you'll love. See ya Monday girls...... XXXX

Think they might need a Stylist this time Mom - what do you think? Oh, I could have picked their newer cover 'Teenage Dream' by Katie Perry - but I just don't like the harmonies.

Friday, August 27, 2010

Rachel here - Isn't it amazing that even when you 'like' school, have great friends and no real school 'issues' theres still that feeling of dread as you get the books ready and the uniform organised, buy the new shoes and begin to imagine the school year ahead..... Life seems to have gone from summertime to schooltime in an instant.  This August back to school schedule does not make me a happy bunny.  Just a few more days would make all the difference, especially when the weather is so nice.  I am determined to make the most of our short days at school in the next week, to keep summer in my life for as long as I can.  The forecast is good, so I'm making some plans.....

Sophie here - Transition Year and all its experiences are a memory now as we gather our stuff together to go back to school.... again.  As I look at my uniform and books all ready, I keep thinking about how much work I am going to have to do in the next two years!  My summer was so good, I really wanted it to go on forever.

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Rachel here - I promised a video of Polly playing ball in our garden. This really made me laugh. Hope it makes you laugh too!!

Monday, August 23, 2010

Sophie here - just this evening we had a visit from our fantastic, fabulous and really kind hairdresser (who shall remain anonymous for now). It is just great to have a hairdresser who listens to us and does exactly what we ask and gives good advice too. He has a special relationship with each of us and we have great chats while he cuts our hair. If we show him a picture of what we want (because we are both a bit fussy about our hair) - he will always explain why we should or should not do something we've asked for and when he's finished cutting, will show us how to dry our new cut... if we talk to him nicely he might give us a bit of good advice for all teens - we'll have a chat with him next time.

Rachel here - while in DL today and knowing that we'd have new haircuts later, I picked up some L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray (with Cheryl Cole on the front) - we've been noticing this in the magazines - their marketing does work! Once we saw Cheryl's smiley face on the front, we just knew we had to have it. Will let you know if it does what it says on the tin!

Maybe the nice people in L'Oreal would like us to review their products for them. We would just love that and could share a few of the products around too for some real teen feedback. I'm really getting to understand this blog stuff now. In fact one of the first blogs that inspired me was, which Mom showed me one day and I was hooked! You could take a look if you wish.

Let's make sure that teens have a voice in the beauty product world! By the way, the cost of the hairspray was a bit steep, but just a little for the discos makes it go a long way and both Soph and I chipped in together to buy it.

And now, with our hair looking 'good' as we venture's starting to rain. Ah....that's life in Ireland! All the effort - then it rains!

Rachel here - when I began to watch X FACTOR last night, I got this wintery feeling all over. What with back to school this week as well, it felt like Summer has gone by in a flash. A flash of happy days, sunshine, friendships and so much fun. But just too fast.

When I saw
Simon Cowell's grumpy face I realised that we are into a new season of TV and X FACTOR. Of course there's lots to look forward to, but it feels like it's just too soon. I want to keep the summery feeling for a few more weeks. How am I going to do this? by wearing my summer clothes, layered with cardis, or even boots to give a more wintery look. I'm going to make plans to be outdoors as much as I can with my friends and I'm going to talk to them tomorrow to see what we are going to get up to over the next while just to strrrrrrretch Summer as far as we can. I hope this year's X FACTOR will be great!

Liz here - I was working on Wednesday last doing a makeup makeover with one of my lovely clients in BTs in Dublin.  I invited the girls to come along afterwards and booked them in for some advice on skincare and simple makeup techniques.  I have a particular brand  I am very fond of and want to introduce the girls to all the different products over time.

Sophie here - I was delighted to get the chance to visit the makeup counter again with Mum.  I got some great advice on skincare and tried out some new products.  I have not tried tinted moisturiser before, preferring to stick to mineral powder, but the makeup artist showed me all kinds of techniques and then did an amazing job on making up my eyes for a special occasion, using a fab green colour which is so this season.

Rachel here - I had no idea I was going to have my makeup done, but when I saw Sophie's finished demo, I thought I'd like a bit of advice too.  I keep my makeup quite simple and the makeup artist really understood what I was looking for.  She showed me how to blend two tinted moisturisers together to create the perfect colour for my skin tone and introduced me to an eye base which goes on under eye shadow and creates a lovely smooth effect.  The mascara she used was just gorgeous.

The girls got some really good advice and we bought a few products.  I tell my clients that it is a good idea to make an appointment at your favourite makeup counter twice a year, to get advice on the condition of your skin and also to see what new products are available that season.

Rachel here- Thanks for the views and please please please please tell all your friends about us...

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Rachel here - I wish I was a reader (a bookworm kind of reader), but hey, I'm not. I'm too into sport and tecky things and friendships to have my nose stuck in a book.... but this summer my Mom challenged me to read a few books, and I did. I want to share my fave one with you because I think it is well worth a read.

Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin describes their journey to climb the K2 mountain in Pakistan. When they became lost, they stumbled upon a remote tribal village in the mountains where they were welcomed and allowed to stay in the Chief's home and given food and drinks.

Greg noticed that there was only one run down school and he promised to build a new school and he tells the story of how he followed through on this promise.

The book held my attention from beginning to end. I think it is a really good story and I want to find out if the recent floods in Pakistan have affected the village where the school was built.

This disaster really deserves a charitable donation. If anyone would like my copy of the book, just email me at and I'll get it to you! First to email, gets the book!

Monday, August 16, 2010

Rachel here -
I've been listening to these guys for a while now (they're based in Australia) - I really enjoy their music - have a listen and let me know what you think on Facebook...

Sunday, August 15, 2010

Sophie here - Heard that these were going to be good and watched them with my friends.  When I got home Rachel was watching them so we picked out our favourites.  I just loved the outfit that Katy Perry was wearing.when she sang 'Teenage Dream', kind of nice jeans and a waistcoat with a draped t-shirt.  I will be watching the shops for something like this.  My favourite part of the show was the Street Dancers - they were so cool.

Rachel here - Sophie texted me to tell me about these awards.  I was pretty impressed.  The style was great and the singing really good too.  My fav - Justin Bieber - 4 awards!  I was wowed!  I just can't wait til he comes to Dublin.  He has promised to come to Dublin in 2011!  Keep your promise Justin!!!!

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Sophie here - I liked this movie - it was just as good as I thought it would be - a mixture of action / romance and and some comedy.  In fact it was really funny in some parts.  Tom Cruise and Cameron were just great as I knew they would be.  It was set in many countries, such as Seville in Spain, Austria, Germany and that made it interesting.  The storyline was interesting, but I didn't like the very end.  Worth a view?  yes.

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Rachel here - I think that SKYPE is the next big thing for young teens.  Do you have Skype?  I always thought it was for adults to keep in touch with friends in other countries til my cousin RK suggested I get connected.  It's just great! So handy...  and it's FREE.  I just love keeping in touch my friends, especially in the hols.  We now do a six way chat in the evenings and it is great fun - so much more fun than typing messages to each and much more personal.  It's great to hear the laughter not just read lol, it's great to hear the voices and it is certainly keeping us entertained and it is absolutely COST FREE!  I just love it......

Monday, August 2, 2010

Rachel here - while browsing youtube today, looking for a cover of Justin Bieber's 'One Time', I found this video - great to see teen girls having fun and they sound good too! Take a look.....

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Hope you will check in regularly with us and we look forward to bringing you lots of info and style advice in the months ahead. Love and hugs, Rachel, Sophie, Liz and Polly XXXXXX

Sophie here - just last night we heard singer Amy MacDonald's new song 'this pretty face' - it's a cool song and fits in very well with what we believe at Teen Life and Style.... have a listen to it yourself - there's a good video below...... hope you like it!

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Rachel here again - I just love Toy Story - I have been a fan, right from the beginning, when I saw the characters in Disneyland Paris when I was still in my buggy. Over the years, I have owned many of the characters, Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Slinky, Rex and even a talking Mr. Potato Head at one stage. Bit by bit my collection has diminished as my Mom does her mega clear outs and we often have car boot sales to get a bit of money together for something we are saving for.....

When I heard Toy Story 3 was coming to the Cinema I just had to get to see it. I was not disappointed at all. The characters were as wonderful as before. I wondered if a trilogy would be a step too far. But NO. It was great. Even greater than I remember. It was a bitter sweet movie, but all was well.

I felt so guilty that I had let go of my Toy Story Characters and when I came home I went straight to my room and rescued my Woody and Jessie toys from a corner and they now are right on top of my bed! I am so glad that I took these out of a bag on the way to the charity shop last year. I just could not let them go. Phew. FRIENDS FOREVER!

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Rachel here - we headed off on a bit of a family drive about, 5 of us plus the Polly Dog... that's what Summer is all about. We live near the sea, but there is another beach further down the coastline which we hadn't seen for a while. It was a bright day, not quite as warm as I like it, but it was so nice to chill on the grass just above the beach and have a family chat while Polly had a sniffathon all around.... I just love days like this. A view like this and it cost nothing, It was completely free!

Monday, July 26, 2010

Liz here - the search for the purple t-shirt made me think that there could be some more treasures hiding away in the girls' closets. That is what happens when you buy a bundle of new clothes together - you start wearing some of them and if you haven't worked out what makes up different outfits, a few little t-shirts or a pair of shorts or a skirt can be ignored. Whether adult, or teen, every month or so it is a good idea to revisit your clothes and put together a couple of new combinations. It can feel like you have a lot of new clothes even if they have been hanging around for a while.

With this in mnd, today I took a half hour with the girls to go through what they have and put together a few new combinations. The results were great and they were surprised to realise that they could wear the clothes in other combinations and that they had ignored a few bits and pieces they had bought before the hols.

Let's hope that the weather keeps good for the next few weeks, so they have the opportunity to wear lots of lovely summer colours!

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Rachel here - I had a really great barbeque this evening... eight of my friends came over. We had so much to chat about because we have been on holidays and my Mom and Dad were laughing at the loudness of it all. I put a few new songs on my iPod, stole my brother's amp and cranked up the music outdoors. We had delicious food followed by a lot of crazy dancing. It was great to see everyone having fun. I had planned the menu and did the shopping myself. I like to be in control of things!!! We had burgers, sausages and afterwards the most delicious chocolate sundae desserts served in glasses with vanilla and chocolate icecream scoops, broken kitkats, maltesers, hot chocolate sauce we made ourselves and a big squirt of cream. They looked good, but they tasted even better!. Thanks girls for the lovely pressies and for being so much fun. ps my outfit worked out good... and I really like my purple Raybans!

Friday, July 23, 2010

Rachel here - As you know I had bought purple Converse shoes in Spain. I'm having a barbeue tomorrow and want to wear them. I forgot to mention I bought purple Rayban sunglasses too (fakes I'm afraid, bought from the traders on the beach). I will wear white cut offs and want to find a suitable t-shirt. This is where my Mom is great! I asked her what t-shirt would suit - she made a couple of suggestions, but I wanted something different - she remembered that we had bought a purple Tommy Hilfigger t-shirt in the sales last year - it was a bit big for me then. I couldn't find it anywhere, but Mom was really sure that it was somewhere. She suggested I check Sophie's closet and guess what? There it was, new, a perfect colour match and I was delighted with it! I wonder how many lovely t-shirts you have buried on a shelf somewhere?

Thursday, July 22, 2010

A Polly Story - Polly had a lovely toy - in fact it is her third toy - given to us by Donnie at the Wezz Disco! The first toy lasted a couple of months. She loved to play with it and throw it up in the air. Then one day, she wrecked it! The second toy lasted a couple of weeks - she thought it was a rat or a cat and tried to kill it regularly. Then she wrecked it! The third toy, Ducky...only lasted a few days. She ripped the head off! R.I.P. Ducky. Think we'll have to get her a different type of toy!

Liz here - as a stylist I am always conscious of the 'finishing touches' to our style. I see lots of nice teen nails, but I see many cracked, chipped and grubby nails too. All of the girls will make an effort for a special occasion, but it is our day to day style that determines if we are 'stylish' in the true sense of the word. Sophie does a great job keeping her own nails and can even do her own french maniacure if she wishes...

If you are struggling with getting your nails right, it might be a good idea to invest in a professional maniacure at a salon. Sophie had a maniacure done in Spain about 3 years ago and since then has become really good herself. Toe nails should be square and just above the top of the toe. Finger nails can be rounded, but I prefer a slighly square look (that's the way the professionals do them).

A base coat prevents your nails from becoming discoloured from the darker or red nail lacquers. My favourite brand right now is Nails Inc. They have some wonderful colours. Auntie Bee often comes up trumps with a gorgeous colour like this one on Sophie's nails...

Rachel here - I have always wanted to have country cousins - you know the kind that you can visit on school holidays - but all our family lives close by us. I was invited to stay with family friends in Kilkenny (in the middle of Ireland) for a few days and I was delighted. I packed enough clothes for a week, just in case I could stay longer than the couple of days I had planned. I sorted my clothes into outfits and for ever pair of trousers or shorts I brought two tops. I had a hoody, a jacket and 3 pairs of shoes, pyjamas, dressing gown, my crocs (which I really like) and a bikini (just in case). It all worked out just fine and yes, I did stay a little longer.

The best things about my Kilkenny visit were seeing new places, really nice people
and spending lots of time with younger kids. This allowed me to be a big kid and I really liked looking after all the little ones and making new friends. The people were so friendly and kind to me and I really hope I will be able to visit again sometime.

I love the countryside, all the green and last time we were in Kilkenny
we saw some bea
utiful horses there.

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Rachel here - did we mention that we have a gorgeous Gran? She's
really stylish and funky and today's her birthday. We just love family celebrations and we visited my uncle's beautiful home in the countryside to celebrate. All of our family were there (except our brother - who is stranded on an island in the middle of a lake for the next 10 days with his scout troup). We had delicious food and the biggest and most gorgeous raspberry pavlova I have ever seen! The house has so much land and a little forest and we loved wandering around with our cousins, seeing the horses and getting lost. I just love this place, but we do wonder if there are a just a few ghosts there!

Liz here - this Summer the girls have been wearing belts, on shorts, cut-offs and jeans too. For the past couple of Summers their favourite Abercrombie vests looked nicest worn over top of trousers with layers over. This year, having got some nice belts with shorts they bought in Penneys, we experimented and discovered that tshirts worn tucked in, with belt, trousers little low slung, looks really nice. It also elongates the body shape and shows off waists nicely. Have a peep at Rachel's photo.....

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Liz here - what's great about summer holidays is that there's more time for hair styling and for experimenting. Before we went on holidays the girls were trying to explain to me what kind of hairstyles they wanted for summer. I told them that as hairstylists are often 'visual' - the best way to tell them exactly what you want (and to avoid disappointment) whether it's a cut or a colour you are after is to bring them a picture of what you want. Searching on the internet makes this really easy. You can even look for your favourite movie star or pop idol's cut and print it out to bring with you.

The one great thing about our hairstylist is that he LISTENS to what we want. You are paying good money for each haircut so you need to find a stylist that (a) is reasonably priced and (b) really listens and gives you good advice. Then.... you have to be prepared to take that advice because hair that looks good on one head, can look disastrous on another!!! and that is what a stylist is trained to do. To imagine what something will look like and .... make it happen.

My new style!
Rachel here - I changed my hairstyle during this school year and wanted to experiment further with it over summer. I decided I wanted a flicked out style but I was having trouble managing it myself so....... over to Sophie, my new personal blow dry expert..... she helped me to get it just right!

It's amazing how a little practice helps. These days I am well able to flick my hair out myself and since Auntie Bee (as mentioned before) donated a GHD hair gadget.... it's even easier now.

Sophie here - When thinking about summertime hair, I wanted a layered style, down past my shoulders, with shorter bangs tapered down my face. I had to convince the hairstylist to layer my hair more and I wanted to be able to wear it up or down, curly or straight. It has taken a couple of cuts to get it exactly as I like it. It has also taken me a while to manage the shorter layers, but now it's easy. I try to dry my hair straight myself rather than using a straightener all the time, as I think it just ruins the ends of your hair.

I experiment with shampoos too and more recently, for special occasions have been backcombing my roots for a bit of volume and a little bit of hairspray makes a difference too. I have been wearing a lot of upstyles these sunny days and if I want my hair curlier I let it dry naturally, gently scrunching it. I can do this in the summer, but it never works in the winter. I want to learn to do a few cool upstyles for discos, so I'm doing a bit of research on the net right now....

Sophie here - we forgot to mention the best birthday party we were at this year.... our little cousin Lulabelle invited us along. We'd been style shopping with her the week before and we were given instructions (as only an 11 year old mini teen can!) to make wonderful hats for her birthday party as she was having a hat fashion show and competition, as well as a magician and a sleepover - all in one day - can you imagine?!!! But then, her Mom is our Auntie Bee - a fairy godmother kind of auntie... the kind of auntie that everyone needs in their life! Anyway, back to the party - we had the most amazing day out and... what do you think of our hats?

Rachel here - I forgot to mention my holiday buttefly.... not one for the real thing, I decided to get a henna tattoo done on the beach in Spain. It was nearly the last day before I had the courage to ask my Mom - I should have known she would say yes - she's good about these things... I am delighted with my little butterfly on my hip, she won't last long, but I love her anyway....

Sophie here - I had been waiting for ages to see 'Eclipse'. I loved all the books by Stephanie Meyer. The movie was good, but not great. The plot was full of action from beginning to end, but I am beginning to realise, having seen 3 movies now, that I prefer the books. The descriptions in the books are amazing and really catch your attention and you get drawn right in. The movies seem more make believe. I would recommend this movie for teens... if you haven't read the books you will think it amazing - but I'm still glad I read the books first!

Rachel here - now we are back from holidays I'm really looking forward to getting our blog up and running. This has been a dream of mine for a long time now and I've been gathering all my ideas together. Our Mom is a Stylist and she works with ladies and some men too to get their personal style sorted. She has a great interest in teen style too and helps us put outfits together each season and especially when we are going to a disco or to a party. She is also great at helping boost confidence and she will teach you lots of tricks about life and how you deal with it and how to think differently about things. We will have ideas about hair, makeup, clothes and how to live life to the full. We want to share all of this with teenagers wherever they live.

This is a little Polly story...when we arrived home from hols our dog Polly nearly went crazy. It is the first time we had left her. She is three. She is a Dandie Dinmont and she is cuter than cute! She's Dad's dog really - he got her for his 50th birthday last year but she loves the sound of Mom's voice best. She has a special relationship with each one of should see her playing ball (Ronaldo better watch out!)...I'll try catch it on video soon.....

Liz here - We're back from holidays! You know that anti-climax feeling.... but at least the weather is good at home and that's a great bonus. I was just talking with the girls about our holiday memories....these have to last us 'til we go away again.... we just loved the fresh orange juice in the mornings and the delicious Cacolat chocolate milk. We loved the fresh fruit and vegetables and the crispy baked bread. We enjoyed bargain hunting in the shops and finding lovely clothes and shoes. We loved the feeling of the sun on our bodies and swimming in the pool.

There was wonderful wildlife such as red squirrels an kingfishers and It is great to come home looking forward to going back again.
